I've aclled today's post a real update, because apart form the Year of Project update, I'll also explain the recent lack of posts. As you probably know, I'm a mother of one really absorbing 2-months-old and that cuts my computer and crafting time quite a lot. But the real reason was that I've moved out of my old apartment- there was a lot of packing and unpacking things. Plus, for the first few days at a new place we didn't have the Internet access. But now everything seems to get back to normal (I try to ignore the piles of books on the windowsill - no shelves yet...).
And now, when it comes to crafting - one mitt is almost ready! And there's about one fourth of the second one. Yay!
I still hate DPNs and I have no idea how I'll tackle the socks I have planned for one of the future projects. Besides, I discovered that knitting is not really my thing. I somehow can't get all those stitches even, no matter how hard I try. In crocheting it's so much easier!
Anyways, thanks for stopping by! And if you haven't voted on my next-free-pattern-survey, please do. Today it's the last chance! :)
oooh, a onderful place!

Well nothing like moving house along with a wee one to cute your precious computer and crafting time even more. Best of luck in your new home and its great to see you back. Love the mitts, the colour is just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried the Magic Loop process? I use it almost exclusively for anything done in the round now. DPN and I don't get along very well and with my two young/small dogs they consider the DPN's chew toys. You might want to investigate Magic loop when you start your socks.
ReplyDeleteYour mitts look great to me and I really don't see that much of a problem with your stitches. And once they are washed things usually straighten right out.
I second the magic loop suggestion--there are lots of videos online--I break out in hives just thinking about dpn's--yikes! Bless you for surviving a move with a tiny little infant. I am sure that was no easy feat. I think your knitting looks beautiful and wish I had those pretty mitts to wear right now. I am in a restaurant right now, the rain is pouring down outside the window, and my hands are cold!

Welcome to your new home! Looks like your packing was quite organized, because you've found your knitting back ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely blue for those mitts!
Thank you for the lovely comments and the magic loop suggestion. I'm so going to try it next time with my DPNs! Thanks a lot!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've mastered those dpn's to me - the mitts are looking great. I've got a problem with dpn's but actually bought another set a few days ago to give it another try. My friend (a competent knitter) told me the bamboo ones I had were hopeless so I bought a different kind. I agree with you - crochet is much easier than knitting. Enjoy your new home.
ReplyDeleteMoving is so tough, and I can't imagine doing it with a 2 month old. Congrats on the move :).
ReplyDeleteMoving is such a pain. Glad your finished. As for the socks try Magic Loop. I HATED socks until I started using magic loop. Good luck
ReplyDeleteYour fingerless mitts are so beautiful. I personally love DPNs and it looks like you are handling yours just fine.
